General Information about Egypt
Egypt is located Northeast of Africa and is surrounded by desert and the Mediterranean and Red Seas.  About 95% of Egyptians live along the Nile, which is the longest river on Earth.  This fertile area surrounding the Nile comprises only 5% of Egypt’s territory and is densely populated.  The sun shines year round, however with two seasons.  The climate is warm to hot from May to October and the winters are moderate from November to April.  The highest average temperature in the summer range around 100 degrees Fahrenheit and 60 degrees in winter.

Egypt's history covers more than five thousand years - encompassing the origin of civilization, to the rise of the Greeks and Romans, the establishment of the Jewish, Christian and Islamic religions, the colonial era when first France and then the English ruled the country, and finally, a return to independence. Today one can find many monuments that are witnessed  Egypt's important role in most of the world's historic events, from the beginning of mankind until the present.

Egyptians are full or warmth towards visitors and foreigners.  Their beautiful smiles, incredible hospitality and genuine desire to be of help, is one of the most wonderful experiences of traveling in Egypt.  Egypt is filled with the sounds of cars beeping, the call to prayer, the silence of the Nile and the wonderful laughter of the Egyptian people.  It is home to the sacred sites of the Egyptian Temples and is an ancient civilization with great history and mystery.
